FROM THE BACK of the BOX:

Dance Steps of Latin American origin hav become more and more well known in the United States thourghout the past few years...and, in the world's smartest cafes and hotels, the Cha Cha has become the most popular of all social dances. Of All dances based on Latin rhythms, the Cha Cha is by far the most enthusiastically received and enjoyed. It has not only replace the rhumba and mambo but has, in many of the smart spots, also become more popular than the standard fox-trot!

This intriguing new dance step has come to us from Cuba...the insistence of its mesmeric beat conjuring up a vision of exotic dancers, the magic of sultry tropical nights! Although essentially a type or derication of the old Cuban "Dabzon", the Cha Cha is closely related to the Mambo in its basic rhythmic patterns and accents. But this newest dance from is especially remarkable for its fascinating instrumentation and, in particular, for its use of the "Guiro" or scratcher. In fact, there are those who believe that the dance is named from the constant rasping "cha cha cha" sound of the scratcher. And, just as colorful is the equally prevalent opinion that the dance takes its name from the shuffling sound of the dancers' feet. But, whatever the origin of the Cha Cha the lack of historically accurate data cannot affect the growing popularity of this most danceable music!

For your listening and dancing pleasure, Eduardo Fernandez has selected and intermixed warious types of Cha Cha's; ecah different in concept and color; all alike in the exciting excellences of their performance and presentation...a pleasure guarantee to the cancing, and listening, stereophile!
